Our Veterinarian, Dr. Alana Morales, DVM, MPH is a proud double dawg graduate from The University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine c/o 2020. Go Dawgs, sic ’em! Woof!! Woof!! Woof!! She did a dual degree program, obtaining her Master of Public Health degree, while also earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at UGA.
Since graduation, Dr. Morales has mostly worked in shelters and High Quality, High Volume (HQHV) Spay & Neuter clinics. She also did additional spay & neuter training, while in school, at the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance in Asheville, NC to get additional training on efficient and safe spay & neuter techniques in cats & dogs. Since then, Dr. Morales has performed thousands of safe spay and neuter surgeries in cats & dogs from 2 lbs to over 100 lbs and from 2 months old to over 7 years old.
Dr. Morales has a passion for decreasing animal suffering in our community, as well as reducing the burden on our local animal rescues & shelters. To do this, we have to address the pet overpopulation issue, by spaying & neutering our pet cats & dogs before they produce more puppies & kittens.
Dr. Morales hopes to make it easier for owners to access routine spay & neuter services, by offering an affordable option at our clinic.
We also offer affordable preventative care, such as vaccines, heartworm testing, and dental care. Since, basic pet care is also out of reach for many pet owners and leads to relinquishment of pets. Also, getting routine preventative care (e.g. vaccines, heartworm prevention, dental cleanings) can decrease the chances of some disease processes, decreasing the chances of having to treat costly medical conditions later on (e.g. parvo, lepto, heartworm disease, & dental disease).
Dr. Morales with "Faith", a shelter kitten that came in with both of her eyes ruptured from a chronic upper respiratory infection. She was barely over 1 pound when Dr. Morales removed both of her eyes, to relieve her pain. This pic is a few months later, when her she came back to be spayed. She's now living her best life and you'd never know she's blind with how she runs & plays.
The is Dr. Morales with her first pet dog, an American Pit Bull Terrier named Lady. Lady is the reason Dr. Morales became a crazy pit bull lady (and possibly even a vet).
Dr. Morales also started a non-profit, Snippin’ N Tippin’, which will be used to subsidize the costs of spaying & neutering of animals with no owners (community & feral cats & rescue animals) and pets from low-income families.
Dr. Morales has a soft-spot and passion for bully breeds and cats. Both of which are the most abundant animals in our shelters and also tend to take longer to adopt out (if at all).
We hope to use the non-profit to help any cat or dog that needs it, but specifically to target spaying & neutering in bully breed dogs and community & feral cats through TNVR.
If you’d like to “spay it forward” and donate to help an animal in need, you can do so through our Venmo @snippinNtippin or contact us at the clinic.
Thanks in advance!
